In the Pulp & Paper industry, media primarily consist of abrasive fiber slurries, corrosive cooking liquors, and chemical additives. These fluids often exhibit non-Newtonian behavior and high solid concentrations. A critical prerequisite for successful assessment is the homogeneity of the fiber suspension; the slurry must be free of entrained air bubbles which disrupt volume profiles. Additionally, maintaining a consistent fiber-to-water ratio and stable pressure is essential. Contact surfaces must resist abrasion from wood fibers and chemical erosion from liquors to ensure a stable, predictable flow environment.
